Song Brocade (Sòng Jǐn) is often hailed as the “Crown of Brocades” in China. In fact, history honors it as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. Unlike modern printed fabrics, our artisans weave complex patterns directly into the silk using a traditional, multi-layered structure.
Therefore, the fabric possesses a unique, matte sophistication and a sturdy texture. We source this specific “Shell Inlay” fabric directly from Shangjiukai, a legendary workshop dedicated to preserving this thousand-year-old craft. Ultimately, you are holding a piece of living history.
The visual magic of this clip lies in the “Luó Xì” (螺细) technique. Historically, “Luó Diàn” referred to inlaying real mother-of-pearl or abalone shells into wood. However, in this brocade, weavers mimic that natural, shifting iridescence using specialized silk threads.
